Trump has said the United States has a “virtually unlimited” supply of weapons as tensions rise in West Asia following US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
As tensions in West Asia escalate following US-Israeli strikes across Iran, US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States has a “virtually unlimited” supply of weapons to fight wars “forever” and “successfully.”
His remarks come as the Israel-Iran conflict unfolds with US backing.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said US munitions stockpiles “at the medium and upper medium grade” had “never been higher or better.”
“As was stated to me today, we have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. Wars can be fought ‘forever,’ and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries’ finest arms!),” he added.
Trump noted that while the US possesses a strong supply of the highest-end weapons, it is “not where we want to be,” with additional stockpiles stored in allied countries.
He also criticised former US President Joe Biden, pointing to his decision to supply arms to Ukraine:
“Sleepy Joe Biden spent all of his time, and our Country’s money, giving everything to P.T. Barnum (Zelenskyy!) of Ukraine — hundreds of billions of dollars worth — and didn’t bother to replace it. Fortunately, I rebuilt the military in my first term and continue to do so. The United States is stocked, and ready to WIN, BIG!!!”
Trump concluded in his signature style, “Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J TRUMP.”
Ukraine expresses concern over Middle East conflict
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that a prolonged war in Iran could disrupt US deliveries of air defence ammunition, crucial for protecting Ukrainian infrastructure.
“If there are prolonged hostilities in the Middle East, it will certainly affect supplies. I am sure of that,” Zelensky told reporters.
Earlier, Zelensky described US and Israeli strikes on Iran as an opportunity for Iranians to remove the “terrorist regime” in Tehran, an ally of Russia.
“It is only fair to give the Iranian people a chance to get rid of the terrorist regime and guarantee the safety of all nations affected by terror originating in Iran,” he said.
Ukraine has repeatedly accused Iran of supplying Russia with weapons, including Shahed drones and short-range missiles. Zelensky added that Russia has used “more than 57,000 Shahed-type strike drones against Ukraine — against our people, our cities, and our energy sector.”
