Audi has confirmed its commitment to bringing the Concept C to production via a letter from CEO Gernot Dollner to employees. There were growing concerns about the Concept C’s future as Porsche considers halting development of the electric-powered 718 Cayman and Boxster – the models with which Audi’s sports coupe was intended to share core components, including underpinnings, drivetrains and batteries.

Last year, Porsche began backtracking on its EV ambitions due to slowing demand for luxury electric cars, rising US tariffs and competition from Chinese carmakers.

Porsche CEO Michael Leiters, who replaced Oliver Blume earlier this year, began reviewing plans to cancel development of the electric 718 models for cost-cutting reasons. This raised questions about the future of the Audi counterpart, prompting Dollner to clarify the situation for employees.
“The delivery of the platform by Porsche is not in question,” Dollner wrote in the letter, reported Autocar UK. The publication further quoted him saying that the cooperation between the two Volkswagen Group brands is “proceeding in good collaboration between Team Porsche and Team Audi”.

Gets a dual-motor setup and sleek exterior
First revealed in September 2025, the Concept C showcased an electric successor to the discontinued Audi TT. Based on a modified version of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, it features a dual-motor setup. Uniquely, the battery pack is positioned at a location behind the driver to enable a lower driving position rather than under the floor, as is the case with most other EVs.
Internally dubbed the ‘C-Sport,’ the car is the first model designed by the brand’s new chief designer, Massimo Frascella. The concept introduces a new design language slated for future Audi models, including a revised grille design.
