Creator Sudip Sharma is the man who understands milieu really well, and the success of his shows Pataal Lok and Kohrra prove the same. The second season of the latter is currently streaming on Netflix and receiving rave reviews.
In an interview with Digital Commentary, when the creator was asked about having the opportunity to direct Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, Sharma revealed, “No, I never had that desire. That’s why I never even tried to do that kind of work. I never came here to work with a specific star; I came here to tell my own story, to tell the kind of story I wanted to tell, to make films that I had watched and loved. That has never been a fascination for me. In fact, even if the opportunity came, I would be nervous because it’s a huge responsibility.:
He added, “You see, a star comes with a certain image, and then you have to build a vehicle around that image. I don’t know how to do that. I want to write a character, and whoever comes to play it should immerse themselves in it. I don’t want the responsibility of thinking about how the fans will react or how stardom will affect it. Often, more discussion happens around that than the film itself, and I have no interest in any of that.”
In its review of
_Kohrra 2_, Firstpost wrote- “Mona Singh doesn’t try hard to show her emotions, but from the very first scene there is a deep pain written all over her face. The thick mist descends once again—this time over Dalerpura, a town with no clear answers and far too many whispers. Kohrra 2, Netflix’s critically acclaimed investigative crime drama, returns for a gripping second season.”
But, this time the ‘Kohrra’ (fog) on Netflix gets much denser as compared to the previous season. Most importantly, this show questions establishments like caste and patriarchy. The unhurried storytelling is the real hero of the show.”
