French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday paid tribute to the victims of the 26/11 attacks’ victims in Mumbai.
In a video shared by the French presidential palace, Macron was seen laying a wreath at a memorial with his wife Bridget Macron.
Macron is on a three-day visit to India that would involve bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and engagements with industry figures in Mumbai and the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi.
In the 2008 Mumbai attacks, 10 Pakistani terrorists attacked the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the Oberoi hotel, and a Jewish centre at Nariman House among other locations, killing 174 people, including 26 foreigners. The deceased also included two French nationals.

Macron will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the afternoon and then engage with businesspersons and industrialists.
Modi and Macron will launch the ‘India-France Year of Innovation’ and their talks are expected to be focussed on artificial intelligence (AI) and technology partnership, defence collaboration, and the Indo-Pacific.
Macron will attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi on Thursday.
For decades, France has been among India’s closest partners and has supported India’s inclusion in the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). India and France also have mutual interests in defence and foreign affairs and are committed to multilateralism, strategic autonomy, and reform of the UN and other multilateral institutions. France has also been a decadeslong defence partner and India uses several French platforms.
In recent years, India and France have also joined hands on the subjects of technology, AI, and Indo-Pacific.
“Their discussions will focus on cementing the strategic partnership and further diversifying it into new and emerging areas. Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will also exchange views on issues of regional and global importance,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
