“When you have already confessed to the offence, the question of suspending the sentence does not arise,” the judge said

Actor Rajpal Yadav recently surrendered in Tihar Jail in a Rs 9 crore cheque-bounce case pertaining to his 2010 film Ata Pata Laapata. The actor has been denied bail as the court observed he failed to honour his commitment.

“When you have already confessed to the offence, the question of suspending the sentence does not arise,” the judge said.

“I don’t understand what the argument is.
The judge had said there were no merits to interfere with the conviction. You then said you would explore settlement, went to mediation and said you would pay. For years, you didn’t make the payment. Now you want to reopen the case,” the court added. Justice Sharma further observed that Yadav had, on numerous occasions, acknowledged in court that he had taken the money.
