Serena Williams was seen promoting a weight loss drug at the Super Bowl on Sunday as the tennis legend credited the medication for multiple health benefits to her.

Tennis legend Serena Williams made an appearance at the Super Bowl on Sunday night but that has not gone down well with some section of fans. The 23-time Grand Slam champion promoted a weight loss drug for the telehealth platform Ro and credited it for her body transformation journey and this has sparked backlash.

Seattle Seahwaks won their second NFL championship at Superbowl LX after defeating New England Patriots on Sunday. While the
half-time show headlined by Bad Bunny, the commercial from Williams also generated a lot of buzz on the Internet.

Serena faces backlash

The tennis superstar became a sponsor for the brand Ro last year and has previously also credited the weight loss drug for her transformation journey.

Williams can be seen injecting the drug through a pen-like device and showing how easily it can be done. She also goes on to make another order on Ro’s mobile app for the medication.

In the advertisement, she can be seen explaining how her weight loss helped in reduced knee joint stress, steady blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol. Earlier also Williams had said that she had turned to the weight loss drug after giving birth to her second child. Williams is married to Alexis Ohanian is also an investor in Ro and serves on its board.

Super Bowl is among the hottest sport properties in America and the world with ad slots costing in millions. Williams using the platform to promote the drug has not quite been recieved well by fans.

A top athlete promoting what is seen as a shortcut to losing weight has not gone down well with fans who are criticising Williams for her commercial choices.
