According to the document, the email was sent in response to a message forwarded to him by an Indian politician. Dated December 25, 2015, it reportedly read: “Have you heard the saying: when you meet an Indian and a snake, kill the Indian first!”
Who is Terje Rød-Larsen?
Rød-Larsen is a former Norwegian diplomat and United Nations envoy who also served as president of the International Peace Institute. He resigned from the institute in 2020 after his name emerged in connection with Epstein.
Online outrage
The email triggered widespread backlash on social media. Users condemned the remark, with one writing, “This is too f**ked up,” while another tweeted, “They hate Indians, all of them.”
Jeffrey Epstein, a financier with extensive international connections, first came under investigation in 2005 after a minor accused him of sexual abuse at his mansion.
