The Gaza Health Ministry said on Saturday that 11 people died in the region after Israel launched an attack that targeted people living in shelters in the south of the Strip.
Munir al-Barsh, the general director of the ministry, which operates under Hamas authority, told AFP that 11 people were killed and 20 more were wounded “as a result of strikes carried out by the occupation targeting civilians in a tent and an apartment”.
Israel “continues its serious violations of the ceasefire agreement amid a severe shortage of medical supplies, medicines and medical equipment”, Barsh added.
The US-brokered ceasefire, aimed at ending the nearly three-year-long war between Israel and Hamas, is still in place despite both sides alleging the other of violations. The first phase of the ceasefire largely halted the fighting and provided for the release of all remaining living and dead hostages held by terrorists in Gaza in exchange for prisoners and the bodies of dead Palestinians held by Israel.

Israel acknowledges deaths
Meanwhile, Israel has acknowledged that the data released by Gaza’s health ministry, saying that over 70,000 people have died in the Palestinian region since the start of the war, is accurate.
However, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that the toll does not include people still trapped under rubble in destroyed buildings. According to Times of Israel, that figure is 10,000.
According to reports from the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 440 Palestinians have died due to malnutrition and starvation throughout the conflict. Israeli officials have contested these figures, suggesting that Hamas may be inflating the death toll or attributing deaths caused by pre-existing medical conditions to the food crisis for strategic purposes.
US approves Israel arms sale deal
The United States on Friday approved multibillion-dollar weapons sales to both Israel and Saudi Arabia, at a point of high tensions with Iran.
The State Department said it green-lighted a $3.8-billion sale of 30 Apache attack helicopters to Israel, which has agreed to a fragile ceasefire in Gaza.
“The United States is committed to the security of Israel, and it is vital to US national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability,” the State Department said in a statement.
