Republic Day.”
While speaking to PTI, Commandant Ganga Singh Udawat of the 42nd Battalion of the SSB said that the authorities have received specific information that ‘anti-national elements’ might carry out untoward activities on January 26.
In light of this, the SSB personnel are maintaining round-the-clock vigilance on roads, forests, footpaths, and waterways along the border. The commandant noted that patrolling has been increased across the border areas.
Meanwhile, the SSB’s flood unit is patrolling the rivers day and night, the commander noted. Dog squads, face detection devices, watchtowers, and the entire security apparatus are on high alert in the border areas.
Additionally, Udawat informed that people are being allowed to cross the border only after thorough checking and verification of their identities. He emphasised that the strictness is being implemented, keeping the security of the public in mind, adding that people have been requested to cooperate with the security forces during checks.
President Murmu, PM Modi extend warm Republic Day wishes
Marking the 77th Republic Day, President
Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of the celebration. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi also extended warm greetings to the citizens across the country.
In her address, the president emphasised that India was actively spreading the message of world peace at a time when several parts of the globe are facing conflict. She insisted that the guiding principles of atma nirbharta and swadeshi continue to strengthen the Indian economy and drive sustained growth.
The president called upon citizens to actively participate in the mission of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, which will mark 100 years of Independence. She also highlighted the progress made in women’s development and spoke about key government welfare schemes.
On Monday morning, the prime minister also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to extend Republic Day greetings. “Best wishes on Republic Day. May this occasion add renewed energy and enthusiasm in our collective resolve to build a Viksit Bharat,” he wrote in his post.
