An Instagram user has spotted a new motorcycle testing and it appears to be the upcoming Norton Atlas GT. The Atlas adventure bike is the more accessible model in the new Norton line-up and will be made entirely in India.
In the Instagram reel, mostly the rear of the bike is visible and for a short duration. One of the giveaways on this blacked out test mule is the design of the mirrors which appear the same as on the model unveiled at EICMA. The exhaust also appears to be very similar, as does the chain shroud and the bike is sporting hand guards as well.
Something new on this test bike is the use of engine crash bars on either side. The taillight appears to be integrated into the indicators and it also looks like a sleeker tail section as this test mule is not equipped with the luggage mounting rack.
Powering the Atlas is a 585cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that is rated to make 65-70hp at its peak. We can expect the Atlas models should tip the scales at approximately 200kg. The Atlas GT model gets 17-inch alloy wheels while the regular Atlas gets 19/17-inch (F/R) cross-spoke wheels. The bikes on display at EICMA were shod with Michelin tyres but it is likely that they will be equipped with Eurogrip rubber in our market.
Expect this bike to be launched in the first half of the year, soon after the V4 models go on sale. When the Atlas and Manx models go on sale, they will be retailed through a dealer network that will span more than 200 touchpoints across key global markets such as Europe, the US, the UK and India.
