Casemiro will be forced to leave Man United at the end of the ongoing season as the club has decided to move on. Four other players are on their radar.
Manchester United have announced that Casemiro will be leaving the club at the end of the season. The 33-year-old Brazilian Casemiro has been one of the few bright spots in Man United’s poorly performing team, winning a League Cup and an FA Cup since joining the team in 2022, but the club has decided against renewing his contract.
Casemiro’s contract at Man United ends at the end of the 2025-26 season, and he would be forced to leave as the English Premier League side has turned its attention towards four other players to plug the hole in the midfield.
Why Man United released Casemiro?
But before we reveal the four names that Man United are targeting to replace Casemiro, let’s take a look at why they are releasing the Brazilian. The biggest reason is the former Real Madrid player’s whopping weekly wage.
Casemiro, who won five Champions League trophies with Real, earns a massive £350,000 a week at Man United. And reports in England, including Sky Sports, say that United want to free up space in their wage structure. The departure of Casemiro would significantly reduce the wage bill, allowing them to sign a much younger player.
Nonetheless, Casemiro surely enjoyed his stay at the club as he paid a glowing tribute to Man United in an official media release.
“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” Casemiro said. “From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.
“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”
Who will replace Casemiro at Man United?
Man United have reportedly scouted four players to replace Casemiro. One of them is Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. The 22-year-old Cameroonian was linked with United last summer also but Brighton’s demand of over £100 million for the player soured the deal.
United could be back in the market for the same player.
They are also reportedly monitoring Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Alex Scott (Bournemouth), according to the Sun.
While United released Casemiro to reduce the wage bill, they are certain to fork out a lot of money to land any one of the above mentioned names.
