Vipul Shah’s ‘The Kerala Story 2’ is titled Beyond The Kerala Story and is all set to release on February 27. This happens when March is blocked by Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2.


_The Kerala Story_” talks about a group of women from Kerala who are forced into converting to Islam and joining the Islamic State. Based on a true story, the film is premised on the Hindutva conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and claims that thousands of Hindu women from Kerala have been converted to Islam and recruited into the Islamic State.

It made over Rs 250 crore at the box-office in India and was the highest-grossing female-oriented film in Hindi cinema. And as the film turned two, Vipul Shah spoke exclusively to Firstpost and said, “It became the highest ever grossing film in the history of cinema in the female-centric films genre. Now, this cannot be predicted by anybody. However, the most important thing for us was to expose the truth. And there was a lot of opposition against this, and a lot of people were trying to discredit us.”

On what inspired him to make the film

When I heard the story, I felt it was my duty to make 
this film . If something like this is happening in our country, it’s a shocker. When we were doing our research, we realized this is not something that is happening only in Kerala, but all over the country. This has been happening blatantly, and the political silence is extremely dangerous. We decided to make a film on this subject and expose it in front of the audience so that some action can be taken against the perpetrators, and there is a conversation.
