Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Farida Jalal came together to launch the trailer of their film O’Romeo. Also present at the launch was veteran actor Nana Patekar, but he arrived at the venue at 12, whereas the lead pair was clicked around 1:30 unveiling the new poster of their romantic and action saga.

Patekar, after waiting for more than an hour, walked out and the director spoke about it on the stage addressing the media. Bhardwaj was quoted saying, “Nana yahan se chale gaye hain par phir bhi unke liye bolna chahiye. Jaise school mein ek badmaash bachcha hota hai na class mein jo bully karta hai sabko and sabse zyaada entertain karta hai aur jiske saath ab rehna chahte hain.”

The filmmaker added, “Hum logon ki 27 saal ki dosti hai aur pehli baar saath mein kaam kiya. Woh apne signature style mein uthe ki mujhe ek ghanta wait karaya, main jaa raha hoon. Humen kuch bura nahin laga because we know this is what makes Nana Nana Patekar.”

_O Romeo_ is scheduled to release in theatres on February 13, 2026, strategically targeting the Valentine’s Day weekend. The release date suggests a romantic or emotionally charged core, though the film is expected to retain Bhardwaj’s trademark complexity rather than conform to conventional genre expectations.

The unexpected controversy

The daughter of Hussain Ustara has criticised the makers of the upcoming Shahid Kapoor film O’Romeo, saying the portrayal of her father in the narrative is incorrect and unfair to his legacy.

Sanober Shaikh, Ustara’s daughter, has taken legal steps by issuing a notice to the filmmakers, claiming they have distorted facts in a way that paints her father in a negative light.

Allegations of Misrepresentation

Shaikh has been vocal about her concerns, insisting that the film’s teaser and promotional material appear to depict elements of her father’s life that she says are inaccurate or misleading.
