Maruti Suzuki India Limited and the Government of Gujarat have formalised an investment agreement for a new manufacturing facility in Khoraj. According to ANI, Maruti Suzuki has committed an investment of Rs 35,000 crore to the project.

The new plant is expected to create approximately 12,000 employment opportunities.
The investment letter handover ceremony for Maruti’s new Khoraj plant took place in nearby Gandhinagar, in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Maruti Suzuki MD Hitachi Takeuch, deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and Maruti Suzuki Whole Time Director and Executive Committee Member Sunil Kakkar.
The brand says that once the plant is setup it’ll have an annual production capacity of 10 lakh cars, and it is expected to create approximately 12,000 employment opportunities. The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) will provide 1,750 acres of land for the new plant.
Maruti to expand production capacity to 40 lakh cars per annum from the current 26 lakh.
Along with manufacturing facilities in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda (all in Haryana), and the Suzuki plant in Hanslapur, Gujarat, Maruti plans to expand its total manufacturing capacity to 40 lakh units per annum to address domestic demand and international markets. The four plants currently have a combined capacity of 26 lakh units.
In 2025, Maruti Suzuki India produced over 22.55 lakh units, which the brand says is its highest-ever annual production. This represents the second consecutive year that Maruti has surpassed 20 lakh units in annual production, including vehicles for domestic sales, exports, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplies. The top five models by production volume during the year were Fronx, Baleno, Swift, Dzire, and Ertiga.
