Hero MotoCorp and French automotive technology supplier Valeo have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for motorcycles and scooters.

Technology being developed for both ICE and electric two-wheelers
According to the press release, the Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) platform will utilize Valeo’s radar and smart camera technologies to create a 360-degree safety envelope around vehicles. The radar-based system will include forward collision warning, distance warning, lane change assist, blind spot detection, and rear collision warning systems.
Aside from the radar-based tech, the company will employ cameras to enable pedestrian detection, lane detection, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure warning. Valeo has mentioned that the technology is designed to function even in low-light conditions.
The systems will be introduced across Hero MotoCorp’s product range, including the company’s electric mobility portfolio under the Vida brand. The partnership has already produced successful proof-of-concept systems, with ARAS concepts and technologies showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
Radar-based rider aids and safety systems have typically been reserved for premium motorcycles, but they’re now trickling down to more affordable offerings as well. For instance, a few months ago, Ultraviolette introduced radar-based collision warning systems on the Ultraviolette X47. If Hero MotoCorp successfully implements this technology across its portfolio, it could mark a significant step toward making advanced safety features accessible in the mass-market two-wheeler segment
