Volkswagen has unveiled more details about the India-bound Tayron. The 7-seater SUV will be the brand’s flagship SUV for the Indian market, and will sit above the Tiguan R-Line SUV. The Tayron marks Volkswagen’s re-entry into the premium three-row SUV space after the discontinuation of the Tiguan Allspace in 2021.

Features LED light signatures and a 15-inch infotainment system
The Tayron will arrive in India in the R-Line guise, which brings in a more aggressive look, with sporty bumpers, illuminated light signatures and 19-inch alloy wheels, along with R-Line badges. While it shares the same MQB EVO platform as its 5-seat counterpart, it gets a longer wheelbase at 2,789mm, which is over 109mm more than the Tiguan in order to accommodate an extra row of seats. The SUV has also achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
On the inside, the Tayron R-Line gets an interior that prioritises space and ease of use. The wide dashboard features a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is angled towards the driver, which houses all core functions. Like the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R-Line also comes with a massage function for the leather upholstered front seats, but unlike the Tiguan R-Line, which featured seat heating, the Tayron R-Line’s front seats get seat ventilation, which is more useful in our conditions. The SUV also features a digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, 30 colour ambient lighting, and matrix LED lamps. Moreover, the Tayron R-Line gets up to 850-litres of boot space with the third row folded.
The Tayron R-Line is expected to launch by March 2025 and will go against the likes of SUVs, including the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and the MG Gloster.
