Bajaj is all set to launch a next-generation version of the Chetak on 14th Jan, 2026. Recent spy-shots and the invite have given us a glimpse of what to expect from this upcoming model.

New Bajaj Chetak

What to Expect

This will be the first Bajaj Chetak with revised styling since the EV was first shown off in 2019. The invite revealed an image of a new tail-light design which is different from the current split LED tail-light setup, housing the Chetak badge in the centre and vertical tail-lights on either side. This new design uses a horizontal LED tail-light with indicators at both ends and Chetak branding on top of it.

There may be a few changes up front as well, which will be revealed tomorrow. In the spy-shots, we can see the front LED headlight with Chetak lettering integrated into it. The indicators seen on the front apron in the current model were moved to the handlebar section. The side panels were fully camouflaged, but we expect to see new graphics, colours and other minor styling tweaks.

Additionally, the number plate holder also looks new and the scooter appears to be using a new rear tyre hugger. Other changes we can expect include differently shaped display as well as new switchgear.

One of the main changes we spotted on the test bike is that the scooter appears to feature a hub-mounted motor. The existing Chetak has a swingarm-mounted motor in comparison. A hub motor is designed to be integrated directly into a wheel hub for direct drive power. It remains to be seen what battery pack sizes will be available and the Chetak is currently offered with a 3 kWh or a 3.5 kWh pack.

Considering that the test bike which was spotted seems to miss out on a TFT screen and keyless ignition, this might be a lower or a mid-spec variant. More details will follow as soon as we get a proper look at this new scooter.
