Bollywood star Aamir Khan found himself on the receiving end of a comical case of mistaken identity during a promotional prank for his upcoming film ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos’. A video circulating online shows the actor being thrown out of his own office building after security guards mistook him for comedian Sunil Grover.

The clip begins with Sunil Grover, acting as Aamir Khan, conversing with Vir Das, congratulating him and even paying him a cheque for the sequel. Khan walks towards them totally confused. The prank was orchestrated as part of the promotional campaign for Happy Patel, and features Sunil Grover as Khan’s lookalike alongside comedian Vir Das. The plot twist? Security mistakes Grover aka Aamir Khan’s doppelgänger for the Khan, leading to the hilarious moment where Khan is forced out by the guards.

Fans on social media have been loving the clip, praising Khan’s effortless humour and the prank’s comic timing. The video has since gone viral, with users calling it “one of the funniest film promotions of the year.”

This comes right after Sunil Grover mimicked Aamir Khan in the last episode of Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show. Even Khan praised his mimicry, and told in an interview, “I wouldn’t even call it mimicry. It was so authentic, I felt like I was watching myself. I saw a small clip, and now I’m going to watch the whole episode.” He added, “What I saw was priceless. I was laughing so much I couldn’t breathe! There was no malice in it at all. I must have laughed the loudest.”

‘Happy Patel’, directed by directed by Vir Das alongside co-director Kavi Shastri, stars
Khan in a pivotal role and is slated for release later this month. The screenplay has been co-written by Das and Amogh Ranadive.
