Sudha Chandran responds to viral Maa Kali bhajan video, ignoring trolls and valuing those who connect with her faith

Veteran actor and Bharatanatyam dancer Sudha Chandran has finally reacted to the viral video that showed her deeply immersed in devotion to Maa Kali during a bhajan, a moment that drew both admiration and trolling online.

Addressing the reactions, Sudha made it clear that she has no interest in justifying her faith or responding to negativity. Speaking about the criticism, she told Zoom, “I am not here to justify. I have my perception towards life. I have certain connections that I respect. Mujhe logon se koi lena dena nahi hai. Joh troll karte hai, acchi baat hai, khush rahe apne zindagi mein (I don’t care about those people. The ones who are trolling, good for them, let them be happy).”

She further emphasised that what truly matters to her are the people who felt seen or moved by the moment. “What about those millions of people who could connect and resonate with it? Mere liye woh important hai (For me, that is important),” she added.

Reflecting on her life journey, the actor pointed out that she has never lived by the fear of public opinion. “In my life, I have never thought about log kya bolenge (what will people say),” she said, drawing a parallel with the criticism she faced after her life-altering accident early in her career. “Even after my accident, logon ne kaha tha ki kya bewakoofi kar rahi ho tum(people said that I am being foolish),” she recalled.

Sudha noted that perceptions often change once success follows. “Lekin jab wahi ek success story ban jata hai, log usi ke baare mein charcha karte hai (But, when that became a success story, people started to talk about it),” she said, underlining how resilience and conviction have always guided her choices.

In the clip, the veteran actor and Bharatanatyam dancer is seen visibly emotional and in a trance. At one point, she appears overwhelmed by the moment and even tries to bite those around her who stepped in to support her.
