Snapchat has a new feature that allows users to turn their videos and photos into ready to music synced videos in seconds. The new feature called Quick Cut is aimed at lowering the barrier to entry for content creators by trimming down some of the most tedious tasks involved with video editing.

Snapchat says that Quick Cut along with its recently launched Timeline Editor tool ‘lower the barrier to video creation’ and make it easier for ‘anyone to capture, edit, and share stories without ever leaving the app’
Snapchat says that Quick Cut will allow users to select multiple photos or clips and see an instant preview for the rendered video generated by its tech.
Once a user selects their media, the app applies automatically applies a track from Snapchat’s ‘Sounds’ library and generates a beat-synced preview of the desired video. Users have the option to customize the video according to their preference like swapping out the music track or apply different Lenses from the carousel if the intial automated version doesn’t fit the bill for them.
The company says that users will be able to start a Quick Cut from Memories and their Camera Roll. They will also be able to unlock Quick Cut if they have been inspired by someone else’s creation and then insert their own media into the Quick Cut shared by another Snapchatter.
If you are not happy with your Quick Cut, you can also make detailed editing to the video with the timeline editor before posting it on the platform.
The launch of the new Quick Cut feature is part of the broader strategy by Snap to compete against the likes of Instagram and TikTok by reducing the hurdles for creating content using its technology. While hardcore content creators may not switch over to Snap’s technology for video editing anytime soon, the feature does make it easier for casual users to create content who may not have otherwise the time or skill for precise video editing.
How can you use Quick Cut?
Quick Cut is rolling out to iOS users globally starting this week and Snapchat has promised that the feature would also be arriving on Android and other devices in the coming months.
