Trump called the payment the “Warrior Dividend” and said that the checks are “already on their way,” as he addressed the nation
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) announced that his government would be issuing checks worth $1,776 to members of the military in honour of the country’s founding.
“1,450,000 military service members will receive a special, we call, warrior dividend before Christmas. A warrior dividend, in honor of our nation’s founding in 1776, we are sending every soldier $1,776,” the president said in his address to the nation.
Trump called the payment the “Warrior Dividend” and said that the checks are “already on their way.”
Trump said that his tariff policies have brought in a lot of money to the country, although he did not mention whether the levies collected by the US from other countries would fund the ‘Warrior Dividend’ payments.
“We made a lot more money than anybody thought because of tariffs, and the bill helped us along. Nobody deserves it more than our military, and I say congratulations to everybody,” Trump said.
