US Representative Ami Bera said that Trump would like New Delhi to leverage its relationship with Moscow to end the conflict in Ukraine
US Representative Ami Bera has said that India can “play a big and unique role” in bringing the Russia-Ukraine war to an end. Bera, an aide to President Donald Trump, said that New Delhi could use its ties with Russia to bring it to the negotiation table.
Acknowledging that the Trump administration has “some concerns” about India’s close ties with Russia, Bera said, “India can play a unique role given their lines of communication and their ability to understand the Russians and bring them to the table.”
He added that Trump would also like New Delhi to leverage its relationship with Moscow to end the conflict in Ukraine. “I think this is the time for India to take a bigger role on the global stage,” the representative said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently concluded his visit to India, where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on more than one occasion. Their meetings reverberated in the White House, with some Democrats blaming Trump for bringing India and Russia closer.
Modi said that
India is not “neutral” but stands on the side of peace as he Putin in New Delhi’s Hyderabad House for bilateral talks.
“Since the Ukraine crisis began, we have been in constant discussion. From time to time, you too, as a true friend, have kept us informed about everything. I believe that trust is a great strength, and I have discussed this matter with you many times and also presented it before the world,” PM Modi said during his bilateral meeting with Putin.
PM Modi further said, “In recent days, whenever I have spoken with leaders of the global community and discussed this issue in detail, I have always said that India is not neutral. India has a clear position, and that position is for peace. We support every effort toward peace.”
