Big connectivity push: INSTC, N. Sea Route & Chennai–Vladivostok | India and Russia will fast-track work on the International North-South Transport Corridor, the Northern Sea Route, and the Chennai–Vladivostok Corridor. These routes are expected to cut transit time and boost trade flows.
Two new Indian consulates in Russia to boost mobility | New Consulates General will open in Yekaterinburg and Kazan, enabling stronger regional cooperation. This move aims to improve mobility, trade access and people-to-people engagement.
Labour mobility agreements to regulate worker movement | Both sides signed pacts enabling temporary labour activity and cooperation to combat irregular migration. These agreements streamline the legal movement of workers and improve safety frameworks.
Healthcare, food safety & pharma cooperation expanded | India and Russia signed agreements to collaborate in healthcare, medical education and food safety. Putin also approved the setting up of a major Indian pharmaceutical plant in the Kaluga region.
Maritime cooperation & Polar-Water training enhanced | MoUs were signed to deepen maritime collaboration, including training Indian specialists for ships operating in polar waters. This strengthens India’s capabilities in Arctic navigation and future shipping routes.
Fertilisers, customs data exchange & postal links strengthened | New MoUs on fertilisers enhance long-term supply commitments. Customs authorities will now exchange pre-arrival cargo information, and a fresh agreement links India Post with Russian Post to improve parcel and logistics flow.
Academic, scientific & media collaborations widely expanded | Universities and research institutions from both countries signed academic MoUs, including DIAT Pune and Tomsk State University. Six media MoUs were also signed with Russian organisations, alongside announcements like gratis 30-day e-tourist visas and Russia joining the International Big Cat Alliance.
