The decision aims to ensure the availability of fertilisers to farmers at subsidised, affordable, and reasonable prices, while also rationalising the subsidy on P&K fertilisers in view of recent trends in international prices of fertilisers and inputs.
The government currently makes available 28 grades of P&K fertilisers, including DAP, to farmers at subsidised prices through fertiliser manufacturers and importers. The subsidy on P&K fertilisers is governed by the NBS Scheme, which has been in effect since April 1, 2010.
In line with its farmer-friendly approach, the government remains committed to ensuring the availability of P&K fertilisers at affordable rates.

Considering the recent international price trends of fertilisers and inputs such as Urea, DAP, MOP, and Sulphur, the NBS rates for Rabi 2025-26 have been approved, effective from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. Subsidy will be provided to fertiliser companies as per the approved and notified rates so that fertilisers continue to reach farmers at affordable prices.
