Winning both the races of the 2025 Argentina MotoGP round, Marc Marquez has now achieved 90 victories, equalling the late Angel Nieto for most wins across all classes. And just like the season opener, his younger brother Alex, was just behind him in second place. With a third place finish in the main race, VR46 Ducati’s Franco Morbidelli returns to the podium after nearly four long, injury-riddled years.

Ogura disqualified for running non-homologated software
Marquez brothers dominate
Marc Marquez’s domination of the 2025 MotoGP season continues as he extends his winning streak to the second round of the season. However, unlike the way he walked over the rest of the field at the Thai round, his younger brother Alex did trouble him for some laps during the main race. Ultimately, Marc did overtake him with five laps to go and again, both the Marquez brothers finished 1-2.
Marc’s teammate Francesco Bagnaia has been struggling to match the pace of both the Marquez brothers for two rounds in a row. Following a P4 finish in the feature race, he already has a 31-point deficit to championship leader Marc Marquez.
Strong weekend for VR46 Ducati squad
71 races and 1,414 days later, Morbidelli finally returned to the podium aboard his Ducati GP24 machine. Morbidelli was one of the few riders who opted for the soft rear tyre and despite that, he was able to stave off a hard-charging Bagnaia in the latter stages of the race and cling onto the final podium place.
His teammate, Fabio Di Giannantonio, too finished in fifth place after pulling a last-lap overtake on LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco.
Honda making steady progress
With Zarco finishing sixth, and Joan Mir and Luca Marini crossing the chequered flag P9 and P10 respectively, it is fair to say that Honda is finally out of the doldrums and is making steady progress toward the front of the field in MotoGP. In the early stages of the race, Zarco was troubling Bagnaia, both well inside the top five, but ultimately couldn’t make it stick because of the Ducati’s top speed advantage to the Honda.
Ogura disqualified from Argentina GP
While the Thai MotoGP round was a stellar debut for rookie Ai Ogura, the Argentina round was a bit of a subdued one. A crash in Q1 meant he was left to start in 15th place, but despite the poor grid position, Ogura ultimately crossed the chequered flag in eighth place. But as the Trackhouse Aprilia of the rookie was found to be running some software not homologated by the Championship, it led to his result being disqualified.
2025 MotoGP standings
MotoGP will now make its way to the Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, Texas from March 28-31. Marc Marquez leads the standings with already a sizable 16 point advantage over his younger brother Alex. Behind the Marquez brothers is Bagnaia in third place, trailed closely by the resurgent Morbidelli.
